Beginner Subscription - What we recommend so you don’t get bogged down and can dance asap.
The Tango is characterized by many different styles taught by many different teachers. Daniel Trenner arrived in 1987, learned from many of the Elders, created the Tango Tour, which has grown into an tourism industry, filmed the classes and produced formal instructional videos by many of the teachers.
His unique story, and translation, made him one of the most successful early touring teachers, often partnered by Rebecca Shulman, who is a masterful teacher in her own right.
Here we offer a set of excellent videos, mostly by Daniel and Rebecca, that break down the tango's vocabulary and give you simple progressive exercises with which to learn the basic movements, and lead and follow of the dance. This will prepare you to later explore the rest of the archive, and engage with your local community.

Exchange of Lead & Follow / Intercambio Subscription - 1st Generation Evolutions in the learning of Lead & Follower Roles.
The exchange of lead and follow is one of the innovations Daniel has helped inspire for a new generation of social dancers. In the Golden Age, men would practice this way in all male Practica's, and we suspect that women would more secretly practice this way with family and friends. Daniel's innovation is to encourage all dancers to practice this way for efficient learning, and a more open expression of the ways the roles support each other, something that is traditionally left unspoken.
Follower’s Technique Subscription - Tango Movement Practice. Hint. It’s for all dancers.
The Women's, or Follower's, role is the source of Tango's movement and technique, skills which are then borrowed by the Men's role to embellish the Leader's steps. In the modern generation of Tango's revival, more women were trained dancers, and analysis of the technique developed. Here we have focused videos by Olga Besio, Florencia Taccetti, Elina Roldan, Carolina Zokalski, Fernanda Ghi, and Rebecca Shulman, each one a master class in itself.
Interviews Subscription - Tango History, Philosophy and Culture from the Milonguer@s.
For the serious students of the Tango's history and form, here then the words of the Masters.
As part of the Bridge to the Tango Tours in the 1990s, we asked most of the teachers to sit with us after class and answer questions and tell us stories. Almost 20 of them are included here, with many more on the way.
Close Embrace (Apilado) - Specialty Instruction.
The roots of Close Embrace Tango Salon Dancing, harken back to the decades of military rule, when tango either fled Argentina, or moved underground into much smaller venues. When the Tango's revival began the open embrace dancers ruled for a time. Maria Villalobos and Pedro Tete Rusconi introduced the Apilado (Close Embrace) Style to the next generation, and in the early 90s it caught fire.
Here we have Tete and Maria, Tete later on with Silvia Ceriani, Toni O'Connell with Elina Roldan, Elina teaching the follower's technique accompanied by Daniel Trenner, and Daniel teaching the style with Rebecca Shulman.
