TRENNER
ACCIDENTAL ARCHIVIST,
FOUNDER & TANGO REVIVALIST
Starting in 1997, I spent more than 12 years regularly visiting Buenos Aires. During that time, I studied with just about every teacher I could find and led 1500+ dancers on the first Tango tours while producing instructional videos with Milongueros.
While on tour, we filmed interviews, Milongas, workshops, special private lessons, and parties. Today I have thousands of hours of footage from this period, mostly on VHS and Hi8 tapes. Since 2010, I've been slowly working to preserve this library by digitizing and cataloging this aging material.

PHOENIX
WYATT
DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS, ORGANIZER & EDUCATOR
While Phoenix grew up dancing, they began formally studying Argentine tango at Hampshire College in 2012, and apprenticed with Daniel Trenner 2015-2017. Over the last decade, Phoenix has studied tango in Massachusetts, California, New York, Havana, and Mexico. In addition to working on the Tango Archibe, they are currently developing practices in fusion and contact tango.
In addition to Argentine tango, Phoenix also teaches Cuban rueda de casino and practices a wide range of improvisational social dance. Outside of dance, Phoenix spends most of their time artmaking and dreaming up alternative learning structures. Professionally, their energy has been focused on multicultural perspective building, language, informal education, and critical reflective practices. Phoenix completed their M.Ed. in international education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and B.A. in critical inquiry at Hampshire College.
